Katrin and Dierk Augustin
Two names come to mind first, when people who know us hear about the Augustin Organic Farm and the Augustin Organic Farm KG: Katrin and Dierk Augustin.
Katrin: ...is the heart and soul of the farm. After having completed her vocational A-levels in horticulture, Katrin concluded an apprenticeship in rural home economics. After two years at a technical college and a state certified diploma in "rural home economics management", she also worked in the cooking studio of "Für Sie", a German women's magazine.
Since 1984, Katrin has been working on the Augustin Fruit Farm. Today she is particularly involved in the production of Demeter compounds. In April 2007, she concluded her one-year training as a medicinal plant expert at the Heilpflanzenschule
Verden.
This is an excellent addition to her work with Demeter compounds.
Additional interests are cooking, baking, Taiji or dancing. Furthermore, Katrin Augustin is on the "Verein zum Schutz von Hamburgs Elbregion e.V. Jork" (society for the protection of Hamburg's Elbe region) committee.
Dierk: ...is the pivotal player in the business. He acquired his horticultural skills by focusing on pomiculture and concluded his training at the college for pomiculture by attaining his certificate as a "state certified home economist". Last but not least, he successfully completed his training at the school for master craftsmen as a "qualified gardener, with a focus on pomiculture".
At the very top of Dierk's list of hobbies and interests, is the growing of fruit (pomiculture). He enjoys spending the little time he has left reading, listening to classical music, cycling and in the sauna. Travelling is something he would like to find more time to do.
